Tide

Tide takes place in a childhood home, where a father is sitting in front of a television.

It reflects on both the frustration and acceptance of a father who has decided not to take part in the world anymore and the difficult realisation that saying goodbye is necessary to save oneself.

The childhood home is experienced as a fly on the wall, looking into different rooms. In the living room the father is sitting in an armchair bathed in the blue flickering light from the television. Captured by the light he does not sense the home decaying and snakes slithering across the floor. Even when a snake encircles him, he doesn’t react. He just sits like an empty shell, waiting to be filled out by something.

How do you say goodbye to someone who is already gone?
